Position Description

Clinical Nurse Manager

The Clinical Nurse Manager holds a key leadership role within NHPHP, sharing responsibility for both clinical and administrative functions in collaboration with the Medical Director and Associate Medical Director. This includes conducting intake interviews, triaging clinical care needs, and facilitating appropriate treatment referrals based on a comprehensive understanding of services available at the local, regional, and national levels. The Clinical Nurse Manager gathers and reviews treatment information to support coordinated team decision-making and regularly evaluates participant documentation and monthly reports. The role involves maintaining communication with participants regarding program responsibilities, issuing quarterly reminders of general policies, and distributing updates related to program changes or events.

A central responsibility of the position is providing continuous 24/7 Soberlink surveillance, including monitoring and responding to real-time messages and alerts through a rotating on-call schedule shared with the Medical Director(s). The Clinical Nurse Manager communicates with NHPHP’s third-party administrator as needed and conducts outreach to collection sites throughout the state. The role also includes outreach to healthcare providers involved in participants’ care to obtain necessary clinical information and ensure coordinated oversight. Engagement with key stakeholders—including program directors, OPLC leadership, board leaders, and hospital administrators—is an important component of the position. The Clinical Nurse Manager participates in weekly, monthly, and quarterly NHPHP participant meetings as needed and must maintain an unrestricted New Hampshire medical license.

In support of program development, the Clinical Nurse Manager works closely with the Medical Directors to create and implement strategies that foster meaningful participation and effective programming for licensees across all boards. The position includes involvement in state or organizational initiatives focused on healthcare professional health and wellness when opportunities arise. The Clinical Nurse Manager collaborates with the RN advocate to support licensed nursing assistants referred to NHPHP and participates in national conferences addressing wellness and recovery issues among healthcare professionals, with particular attention to nursing-related concerns and involvement in organizations such as the National Organization of Alternative Programs.

From an administrative perspective, the Clinical Nurse Manager partners with the Medical Director to advance the mission, goals, and objectives of NHPHP. The role requires thorough knowledge of NHPHP policies, practices, and procedures, which align with accepted physician health program guidelines and administrative standards. Additionally, the Clinical Nurse Manager supervises and collaborates with the NHPHP Clinical Case Manager, delegating responsibilities as appropriate and ensuring the timely and accurate documentation of participant records.
